Choosing where to study music is a big decision. It’s not just picking a course; you're also choosing the environment that'll shape your creative development, the people who'll become your network, and the foundation for your career in music.
That's exactly what our Open Days are for. Whether you're a producer, performer, songwriter, or engineer, you'll get hands-on time in our studios, meet current students and tutors, and figure out whether our approach feels right for you.
You'll arrive, meet the team, and get an overview of the Institute. From there, you'll move between course presentations, hands-on workshops, facility tours, and conversations with our staff and current students. There'll be breaks for refreshments and time to explore our campuses at your own pace.
Open Days typically run from 11am to around 3pm, giving you plenty of time to experience everything without feeling rushed.
Just bring yourself and any questions you have. If you're working on music, feel free to bring headphones to share your work with tutors (they love hearing what you're creating), but there's absolutely no pressure to do so.
Absolutely! Many people bring parents, partners, or friends along for support. They're welcome to join tours and presentations, and our team's happy to answer their questions too.
These are working sessions, not demonstrations. You might join a production masterclass exploring techniques recently used on commercial releases, participate in a live sound workshop using professional touring equipment, work on performance techniques, or collaborate on a songwriting session.
Current students often run these workshops, and they'll chat about their projects, how they balance coursework with their own creative work, and what opportunities have come up. Recent Open Days have featured students already gigging regularly, releasing music through labels, and working in studios and venues.
You'll share workshop space with people who are just as passionate about music as you are: producing at home, performing in bands, and engineering for local venues. These are the people who could become your classmates, collaborators, and industry contacts. That person you chat with over coffee might become your studio partner or provide a crucial introduction down the line. Your professional network starts forming the moment you walk through our doors.
dBs offers programmes across diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Whether you're focused on music production and engineering, sound for film and games, developing as a performing artist or songwriter, or specialising in live sound and event management, we've designed courses that connect technical skills with industry realities.
You'll get to speak with tutors from each programme about course content and modules, workload expectations, and career paths. More importantly, they'll look at what you want to develop and help you understand which course suits your specific goals.
