Free Software Friday - Mercuriall MT-A

Written by Chris Mackin | May 30, 2019 11:20:00 AM

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs Music blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

Mercuriall Audio's already impressive set of free software emulations of classic guitar amplifiers and effects has been bolstered by the arrival of the MT-A.

Modelled on the iconic Boss Metal Zone stompbox, which many fans will know received equal parts love and hatred, this soft emulation is really something to behold. The MT-A features Level, Distortion, High, Low, Middle, MidFreq controls on the main interface along with Input Gain, Mono/Stereo and Quality switch that toggles between Lo and Hi.

Much of the original Metal Zone's poor reputation seems to have come from it being incorrectly placed in the signal path, but here the sound is exactly what you'd want. Don't believe us, just watch the video below.

The Mercuriall MT-A is available to download for free on both Windows (AAX/VST) and Mac (AU/AAX/VST) using the link below.
