Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.
Mixland has released freeTILT!; a free tilt EQ that can add colour and saturation to your audio.
When we think of EQ, we often think of small incremental changes to specific frequencies. Tilt EQ refers to something a little broader. Utilising wide filter shapes for either high or low frequencies, it enables you to alter boost one end of the spectrum while cutting another and this can be done without messing - too much - with the mid-frequencies.
With freeTILT!, what you get is a one-knob, one fader, passive tilt EQ with an adjustable vacuum tube output stage. Working between a fixed high and low frequency points - 100Hz to 12kHz - the EQ feeds directly into the tube circuitry so you can add drive and harmonic saturation.
Altering your audio couldn't be simpler. The tilt knob affects your frequency range and the grit slider applies the level of tube saturation, which can go from perfect for subtle warmth to excessive clipping.
freeTILT! is available to download for Windows and macOS (64-bit VST3/AAX/AU) for free here. If you need more features, you can upgrade to the full version (TILT) for $29.99.
