Free Software Friday - Spitfire Audio LABS Glass Piano

Free Software Friday is our regular Friday feature here at the dBs blog. We dig the depths of the music production and media webosphere and discover what downloadable plugin freebies are worth double clicking each week.

Spitfire Audio's latest instalment in their free LABS series is a VST built from recordings of Philip Glass' beloved piano that has been at the core of his music for the last three decades.

Recorded at his home in New York City, Glass Piano is everything we've come to expect from a LABS instrument; a beautiful palette of unique sounds all housed within a simple and familiar UI.

There are six different presets within Glass Piano. 'Anthem', 'Floe', 'Metamorphosis' and 'North Star' - named and  modelled around the sounds typifying those respective releases - offer a great mix of altered piano, ranging from subtle to extreme variations. The final two presets, 'Glass Grand' and 'Glass Grand Soft' are pretty self-explanatory, offering the purest sounds.

Whether you're a long-time fan of Philip Glass or on the lookout for a new baby grand virtual instrument that doesn't break the bank, then this really is a must-try.

Glass Piano is available for Windows and macOS (64-bit only) and can be downloaded for free using the link below.
