Global Game Jam 2025 returns to dBs Institute Bristol

We’re delighted to once again be working with Bristol Games Hub to host the Global Game Jam at our Bristol campus in January 2025. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Global Game Jam is an annual event that will be taking place between January 20th - 26th, 2025. Bringing together gamers from around the world; avid designers, programmers, composers and artists collaborate to create a video game based on a singular theme.

Last year’s theme was ‘Make Me Laugh’ and at the dBs Bristol campus, we saw the creation of some fantastic ideas. It was also the catalyst for one of our BA (Hons) Game Art students to secure a summer internship with local indie game studio, Ground Shatter.

The Bristol iteration of the Global Game Jam begins on Friday 24th January at 6:30pm and the theme will be revealed at 7pm. Jammers will then have Saturday and Sunday to realise their ideas and present them to one another on Sunday afternoon.

If you’ve never attended a game jam, don’t be intimidated. They are super inclusive events that are open to everyone that is passionate about video games, regardless of skill level. To get a good idea of what to expect - check out how things went down last year.

Places are limited, but there’s still plenty of time to register to attend. Head to the official MeetUp page to grab your spot and learn more about the event.
