How to reduce Mic Bleed: Pro tips with live sound engineer Shan Hira

Discover some pro tips on reducing mic bleed in live sound with the legendary live sound engineer Shan Hira, who joined our students for a Learn From The Pros session.

Shan Hira is a world-renowned live sound engineer who has worked with Paul Weller, The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, New Order and many more legendary bands and producers. Earlier this year, he joined our students at dBs Manchester to discuss mic bleed and how to reduce it.

Minimizing mic bleed in Live Sound

Sometimes, mic bleed, a term describing when a microphone picks up sound from a source it was not supposed to pick up, is unavoidable in a live sound scenario. When singers move microphones around during their performance or the stage is tight and it's impossible to isolate each sound source from the others, you're bound to get some interference.
