Tutor Profile - Liam O'Mullane

Liam O’Mullane teaches at our dBs Music, Bristol HE Centre as a specialist in electronic music production. Liam first cut his teeth in the drum & bass scene, DJing for over 10 years as TST (The Scratch Technician), demonstrating his technical mixing/turntablist skills numerous times on BBC’s 1Xtra and taking regular bookings at the legendary V Recordings Night Movement. He became endorsed by both Serato and Vestax, performing demos and workshops at trade shows such as BPM, Plasa and MPX.

His passion for producing electronic music started in 1994 when he fell in love with jungle, bought his first Atari ST sequencer and Roland sampler, and his first pair of decks. Liam has been exploring the sonic landscape of electronic music ever since with releases spanning dubstep and hardcore. His hardcore hit 'Release The Pressure' produced alongside legend Euphony featured on Hardcore Heaven 4 which sold over 140,000 copies worldwide. He's now working alongside D&B super-producer Chris Octane under the new outfit colo[r] as well as developing his new TST live show.

Liam’s other industry experience includes his role as Features Editor at Music Tech Magazine and writing for a number of other publications including iDJ, Ask.Audio and Music Teacher Magazine. He specialises in the use of Ableton Live, Ableton Push and Native Instrument’s Maschine Studio, and works as an official specialist for MASCHINE with Native Instruments across the UK and recently helped dBs Music host the first NI Meetup event at our Bristol HE centre.
