At dBs Institute we understand that financing your studies can be complicated, which is made harder still when trying to wrap your head around financing your course and living costs. So below we've listed a few simple links to help you understand the different grants, loans and bursaries available.
Here at dBs Institute, we partner with Falmouth University, who are our validating university. You apply for courses at dBs via UCAS just like any other university. This also means dBs students are official students of Falmouth University and can apply to Student Finance for a tuition fee loan to cover the full cost of the course.
Currently, UK full-time degree course fees are £9,250 per year for both our BA (Hons) Degrees and our FdA degree, while our MAs are £8,500, but don't worry you don't have to start paying this back until you're earning a certain amount (over £494 a week or £2,143 a month, before tax and other deductions).
There's a brilliant myth-busting article by Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis on his website about this. It's certainly worth reading if you are unclear about student debt and repayments. But the basic idea is those who earn more, pay more back and it's all sorted automatically by your employer.
There are also loans available to help you cover living costs too, which are assessed in a number of ways. We highly recommend checking out the Student Finance Calculator on the government website and point 9 on the Martin Lewis myth-busting article where a table has been created to give you an easy idea of how much loan you are eligible for depending on where you are studying and your parents income.
If you are a mature student you can still apply for a higher education course at dBs, even if you don't have traditional qualifications. You can also apply for student finance. The amount of funding you get depends on your family situation and you may get extra help if you have children. If you can demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm and motivation you will be considered on an individual basis.
