What to expect from a dBs Institute open day

The doors to dBs Institute are open to visitors once again and we’ve got some very special activities planned. Let's take a look at what's in store…

Open days are the definitive way to experience what life at dBs is all about. They’re a chance to connect with our community, explore our course offerings and experience our facilities and surrounding cities.

Regardless of whether you know what you'd like to study or your future career in the creative industries, everyone is welcome. Here’s what will be waiting for you when you pay us a visit.

Meet the team

We pride ourselves on employing the best industry professionals who practice what they preach. Our open days are a great chance to get to know them, their background, and experience, and discover the courses they teach on. They’ll be happy to talk you through their subject areas and give you a better insight into which course is right for you.

As well as our tutors, you'll have the opportunity to meet with our student support team and discuss any additional needs you may have, and learn more about the level of support that is open to you as a student at dBs Institute.

Get hands-on

Whether it's experiencing immersive 3D sound, delving into virtual reality or getting hands-on with our collection of synths and drum machines, there will be a variety of activities that allow you to experiment with our extensive range of equipment.

There's also fantastic workshops and taster sessions that you can get involved in. These are a great opportunity to get an idea of just some of the things you'll be learning across our courses. You'll also be able to see our state-of-the-art studios and professional-grade equipment in action and hopefully, come away with some new ideas and techniques.

Many of these workshops will be led by our current students, so you'll have the chance to get a first-hand perspective of what it's like studying here at dBs Institute.

Explore the facilities

In addition to course talks and workshops, there will be regular tours throughout the day where you can see our facilities in all their glory. You’ll get to step inside our purpose-built studios, teaching spaces and lecture theatres and imagine what studying here is really like.

Chat with admissions

Whether you're applying for a Level 3 Access to HE diploma or a higher education degree, our admissions team will be on hand to support you. They can walk you through the course choices, explain the application process, demystify student finance and fill in the gaps on anything else you might want to know.

Learn more about student accommodation

Due to our size, we do not have our own student accommodation, but that doesn't mean you'll be left to fend for yourself. In addition to our accommodation guide, we will have a representative from Hybr - our official accommodation partner - present to talk in more detail about student accommodation. They will be your greatest resource for all things accommodation, so we highly recommend chatting to them.

Please be aware, representatives from Hybr will only be present at our Bristol and Manchester open events.

Book your place today

To book a place on our next open event, head over to our website, choose the open day you wish to attend and use the sign-up form to secure your place. Our team will be ready to greet you and answer any questions you have on the day. You'll receive all the information for your open day after you sign up, such as how to get to your chosen campus and contact details if you need to get in touch.

Can't make it?

Just get in touch! Although we think an open day is the best way to fully experience life at dBs, we can arrange a private tour for you and answer your questions at a time convenient to you. There will also be further open events taking place later in the year. You can also get a view of life at dBs across our Bristol, Manchester and Plymouth campuses by checking out our blog, YouTube and Instagram channels.
