Our Y3 BSc (Hons) Live Sound students and performers from Access Creative College use their final major project to raise £110 for Mind.
As part of their Live Sound Production: Delivery module, our final year live sound students were tasked with putting on two events to demonstrate their skills in planning and executing a live audio event.
The first event was their collaboration on this year’s Innovation in Sound showcase at Bristol’s Loco Klub, where a number of students set up and engineered the experimental evening performances. Make sure to check out our coverage of the event.
For their second event, our students put on a live event in the Live Sound Hall at Location House; the dedicated space where they undertake their practical sessions as part of the degree. The event was a showcase of three bands made up of students from Access Creative College Bristol; BACKDOWN, The Flicks and Seatbelt Safety.
Responsible for all of the pre-production, planning and delivery of the event, each student fulfilled a specific role for the event.
“Delivering the live event successfully required clear communication, rapid troubleshooting, precise time management, and good people skills,” says Connor Mosley, who acted as Production Manager for the event. “This experience highlighted how preparation, team coordination, and leadership under pressure are vital in live sound production. The ability to adapt quickly to technical challenges ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish.”
In addition to delivering a flawless event, after covering their costs, the event raised £110 which was donated to mental health charity, Mind.
With their studies now wrapped up and the festival season fast-approaching, our cohort of live sound students will be bringing amazing live music to audiences across the UK and further afield.
